CWC’s reputation for providing quality products and unparalleled service has remained its focus since it first opened its doors as a small office supply and furniture dealership back in 1929. As the company has grown through the years, expanding its products and services, it has correspondingly augmented its already sterling reputation. Today CWC continues to develop and enhance all facets of its business, from furnishings and supplies to design and project management, providing each and every client with the unprecedented level of customer service that has characterized CWC for more than eight decades. In 1929 James Wallace, John B. Courtenay and Harold G. Carithers opened a small showroom in the heart of downtown Atlanta that would one day become one of the Southeast’s most prominent furniture dealerships. Throughout CWC’s first 40 years each founder served as president and then as chairman of the board. Tremendous growth in these initial years led CWC to expand from a sales company to a sales/service company that offered design support services as well as office supplies and furniture. CWC’s first 40 years of success prompted the 1969 move into a much larger facility, still in the heart of downtown Atlanta, where it continued to grow. In 1975 CWC began a longstanding partnership with two leading office furniture manufacturers, Kimball Office Furniture and Herman Miller. The original innovator of the panel system, Herman Miller, allowed CWC to offer its easily installed and reconfigured products. These products possess the highest residual value in the furniture industry and continually evolve as technology changes. Herman Miller also created and continues to set the industry standard in ergonomic seating, currently with its Aeron chair. Kimball Office Furniture led and continues to lead the industry in case goods and wood seating products. Such successful partnerships established a precedent that would lead to CWC’s current representation of more than 300 of the finest contract furniture manufacturers in the industry.

The 80s and 90s brought with them enormous changes as CWC worked to adapt to constant shifts in its customers’ requirements as well as to a marketplace saturated with mergers and acquisitions. In 1988

the company moved into its much needed larger showroom space, a 178,000-square-foot facility in northern Atlanta. CWC expanded into the Macon marketplace during the 90s by establishing its first branch office, which would allow the company to efficiently reach other markets within the state. In 1995 CWC’s management responded to the climate of acquisitions and mergers by agreeing to allow U.S. Office Products (USOP), a publicly traded company, to acquire CWC. Endeavoring to uphold the company’s contract office furnishings focus and its dominance in the metro Atlanta market, CWC’s existing management team repurchased the company back from USOP in October 2000. Presently guided by its five principals— Cindy Butler, Paul Conley, Scott Marshall, Dave Randolph, and Hal Brandon—CWC is now owned and operated by these five long-term employees and a group of employee shareholders. With their vested interest in CWC, these employees feel personally committed to upholding and enhancing the company’s excellent reputation. The result is that customers return to CWC time and time again due to the remarkable products and services they can expect.

In 2009, after 10 years of without a supply division, CWC acquired Copy Atlanta. This exciting merger brought together two companies both dedicated to putting service first! The service, quality and great products that Copy Atlanta has brought to our customers for the past 30 years is unchanged...in fact it is reinforced! In 1977, Copy Atlanta was born out of the need of individuals in business to have a reliable local source for office products, printing and copying.
